Moving Dog Story Contest

To all Dog Story Entrants:

Thank you for sharing the stories about your precious canines. As I read through the pieces, I was on the verge of losing it all week. That lump in my throat persisted as I read about Eightball, Rusty, Maggie, Pooky, Quasar, Queenie, Dolly and the all the rest. Each story was told from the heart and each lovingly described furry friend seemed to be a true hero, friend, or savior.

Choosing among the touching pieces was torture. In the end, however, I did my best and ended up creating categories for runners up and honorable mention. I wish you all could have won. The fellow who did take first place, Terry Harrison, told the tale that completely captured my heart. The vision of that little boy in the cape towel and Mardis Grad mask with his deformed furry pal did the same. After choosing it, I discovered that the story was true, and was pleased that the young Terry had used his "superpowers" to save the life of little Eightball in real life!
